Thanks for all your comments – hi Ross, I can understand you being stuck on an island, most people seem to at the initial stage lol. Second Life is very time consuming I spent last summer practically living on it, so it does take time but a great alternative to offer your students – let me know when you have some free time and we will try to work something out – that said it’s been a busy period for me too so we will work our way around it. thanks for stopping by Aniya

IT’s great Anyia I would like to have a toor of second ife have an avatar but stuch in the first island…..would be nice t have an insight guide and see how I could use it for my italian lessons!

Another prospective for teaching and learning I see for younger children for all subjects using 3d effects. Teaching and learning is indeed good and enjoyable.

Hi Annie, have you checked the requirements for your pc? It’s not the case of freeing up space but whether your machine is fast enough, how old is you pc btw? The newer faster ones are better, a lot of my friends can’t even access Second Life because of an old or too slow pc, my mac is full of stuff but I have not problems using SL apart from the odd glitch every now and again which most people witness anyway. I hope you sort things out soon

I have cleaned up my desktop and sadly removed the secondlife application (well at least for now) till I am certain I get more space. Bought a new external hard drive and that would take all other programmes and files I won;t need. Will start flying on second life soonest possible.

Fabulous Aniya! Your passion and enthusiasm shines in this post and it is hard not to get caught up in it. Do you find most of your students have the minimum requirements for having lessons in second life? It seems like such a realistic environment and as you say visually stimulating. Well done and look forward to seeing more pictures and hearing more positive reports.

What an interesting idea! I’ve never used 2nd Life..to be honest with you..I’ve always thought of it as qutie NERDY..:) However, I can certainly see the benefits of learning/teaching online in a virtual community.

Well if it hadn’t been for you two then I wouldn’t have been there anyway… I was really curious about Second Life in the past but never ever thought it would be as good as this. I foresee it getting even better in the future and more people will recognize it as an alternative to teaching/learning. @The Chicken Man you are welcome and I’m glad that you too see it as potential, as I mentioned to you before perhaps you could build some kind of village and base it on what you have visited.
